In the oil and gas exploration space, managing spend across wells, phases, and suppliers is inherently complex. For one energy company, this meant hundreds of call‑off orders and invoices being tracked manually, with limited visibility into how costs stacked up against approved budgets - a process that was time‑consuming, prone to human error, and left finance and operations teams without the real‑time insight needed to make confident decisions.

We partnered with the organisation to transform these workflows using AI‑driven document intelligence, intelligent automation, and modern analytics. The solution implements Intelligent RPA enhanced with document intelligence, enabling automation that can read, understand, and act on unstructured documents. Call‑off orders and invoices are now automatically read, validated, and linked across systems, with built‑in controls to flag exceptions and prevent incorrect approvals. By attaching an invoice‑vs‑call‑off‑order context report directly into the DocuSign approval flow, approvers can clearly see remaining budget before signing - ensuring decisions are informed, consistent, and timely.

The solution combines AI‑powered automation with Power BI and Microsoft Fabric to deliver near real‑time operational and budget oversight. The result? Less manual effort, faster turnaround times, and greater confidence in financial decision‑making - while laying the foundation for scalable, data‑driven operations and future predictive insights.
